Autoimmune...what in the world does that mean?

ree

If you have been diagnosed with autoimmune disease exactly what does that mean? Autoimmune diseases are where the body fights itself, basically recognizing self as non self. Autoimmune diseases are among the hardest to get a diagnosis for. Statistically, most may take up to 10 years to acquire a diagnosis. In practice, I find that I suspect autoimmune long before the diagnosis, as my patient's can attest. Autoimmune disease is basically like your computer having a virus and your virus software recognizing something is wrong. There is a field of study called epigenetic which can be helpful in biohacking your body. Epigenetics is the study of how your genes express/cause symptoms. Biohacking is based on actions and other things that can be done to change cellular action of the body and reduce or terminate the symptoms. Patients with autoimmune diseases may have multiple specialists. Depending on which of autoimmune diseases present, there may or may not be medications of benefit. Despite all of these actions, patients may still feel they are not getting adequate care or support. I feel autoimmune is debilitating and can go into a remission state.
